- Tip: One thing i like to do is I think of the primary song that talks about if Jesus was right beside me. Think of that. Think, "If Jesus was right beside me, what would I do?"
- Tip: Many questions people have come from misunderstanding. Help clear up rumors and confusion.
- Tip: If you are giving a talk or teaching a lesson, invite a nonmember friend to bear a testimony about a point that you are teaching. This could work at family home evening, too.
- Tip: Do your home or visiting teaching with the missionaries. This helps both you and your families to know the missionaries a little better and they might help you out with your lesson. Missionaries love to help members, especially with home and visiting teaching.
- Tip: Apply the Gospel to the problems at work, school or with friends. It a co-worker is complaining about how the environment in her home is always tense and contentious, share what you have found works for your family. FHE invitations would work.
- Tip: What is the best way to make sure you get something done? A deadline! Everything has deadlines! Why not missionary work?! Think of a day maybe next year, next month, or if you feel a real drive, next week! and commit yourself to find 1 person for the missionaries to teach!
- Tip: LDS.org has a page called "Seven Simple Suggestions for Sharing the Gospel" It has 7 great ideas for helping us share! Check it out! http://www.lds.org/topics/missionary-work/seven-simple-suggestions-for-sharing-the-gospel?lang=eng#seven-simple-01
- Tip: We mentioned before about sharing your testimony on Facebook. Some people may not feel comfortable with doing that strait off. What you can do is type it up in an email and send it to a trusted friend of yours to review it and give their opinion on it and maybe some changes. This friend may even by a non-member. Then once it goes through your friends then post it!
- Tip: Family History is a strong tool! Remember we are one of the few churches that do Family History and we have one of the worlds LARGEST database of names and people! You can ask your local missionaries for a Family History pass along card. And if you are interested yourself, check out https://fhc.familysearch.org/
- Tip: Remember Pray as if it all depends on the Lord then go out and work like it all depends on you and you will see Mighty Miracles!
- Tip: Remember this : 5 Levels of the Missionary Work
1. Be an example: Live your testimony.
2. Win hearts: Give service, be kinds, stand up for your values.
3. Share: Share a scripture, testimony, thoughts, church things.
4. Invite: To FHE, to a BBQ, church, mutual, activity.
5. Teach: Have someone in your home or go with the missionaries to teach.
There is A LOT you can do! Remember, Missionary work isn't just teaching the doctrines of the church! - Tip: "Open your mouths and they shall be filled, and you shall become even as Nephi of old, who journeyed from Jerusalem in the wilderness." (D&C 33:8) The Lord promises that as we open our mouths that he will fill them with what we need to say. Let us not fear what man can do but have courage and faith in what God can do! People are rarely offended when we share the gospel with charity and love!
- Tip: I have always found it interesting how many of my friends hear anti and don't believe it, then they ask me and I can help them understand what the truth is. Remember not to be offended by when they don't understand!
- Tip: Remember, our friends and family have their own path in which they travel. Pushing and probing will not change their course. They will change when they are ready. One of the best things we can do is to share our testimony, and to let them know that we are there for them. If they don't seem interested then just be there for them, respect their beliefs. They need more preparation. (from personal experience)
- Tip: Do you have a friend who may be interested in the gospel but can't figure how to spark the conversation? Try practicing with a friend or even call the missionaries up! They will have some tips for you!
- Tip:We are helping them reminding them of "things they already know", "truths they have forgotten". (Unknown)
- Tip:If we ask 100 people if they would be interested, how many "no's" can we get? It does get frustrating when we get a lot of "no" and little "yes" when we have the goal to get a yes. If we set a goal to get "no" and we invite as many as we can then we will be super excited if we get no! Because that was our goal! Then if you get YES then we will be super excited because we got a yes!!! Remember that we don't have to get the answer that we want to be successful, just inviting is the success, then if we get a yes it is super exciting!
- Tip: How can we know if we are successful missionaries? On page 10 of preach my gospel I found this!
You can know you have been a successful missionary when you:
•Feel the Spirit testify to people through you.
•Love people and desire their salvation.
•Obey with exactness.
•Live so that you can receive and know how to follow the Spirit, who will show you where to go, what to do, and what to say.
•Develop Christlike attributes.
•Work effectively every day, do your very best to bring souls to Christ, and seek earnestly to learn and improve.
•Help build up the Church (the ward) wherever you are assigned to work.
•Warn people of the consequences of sin. Invite them to make and keep commitments.
•Teach and serve other missionaries.
•Go about doing good and serving people at every opportunity, whether or not they accept your message - Tip: It would be a good idea, to help your friends find answers in the scriptures when they have questions. Tell them about how you receive revelation and share some experiences.
- Tip: this is a great thing to share with friends!
- Tip:"4
And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye
would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these
things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real
intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto
you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things." (Moroni 10:4-5)
Except and try Moroni's challenges and rekindle that testimony! Then you can bear true witness of the Book of Mormon. - Tip!: When sharing the gospel, just be yourself! If you aren't being yourself, then how can you bear your testimony while not being you...
- Tip
of the Day!!!:"And your whole labor shall be in Zion, with all your
soul, from henceforth; yea, you shall ever open your mouth in my cause,
not fearing what man can do, for I am with you. Amen." D&C: 30:11
We must remember that to share the gospel! we need to open our mouths! And fear not what people will say.
